Aruna Rai, ex-president of the society's RWA, alleged that the maintenance management issued an invoice to the residents in the name of an external agency, not the developer. The developer had handed over the operation of maintaining to an agency — Godavari Firms and Services Pvt Ltd — two weeks ago. Ever since, there is a cold war between the maintenance management and the residents.

The residents insisted on paying maintenance charges only to the developer, and not to any third party. The reason behind the residents' refusal to deposit cheques in the name of the agency is the apprehension that the developer could wash his hands off the maintenance issues that might come up with regard to the maintenance in future.

On September 16, a dispute emerged between the residents and maintenance agency when the maintenance staff refused to accept cheques for monthly maintenance charges issued in the name of the developer. The agency demanded that the residents issued cheques in its name whereas till last month, the residents used to issue cheques in the name of Shipra Estate Limited.
